We investigate across four disciplines, the ‘drivers’ of Curriculum Design using a traditional pedagogic lens and find that in practice, other ‘informal drivers’ are present which at times can be significant. We also empirically instigate the practical impacts of these drivers on scheme related factors such as the structure of degree pathway, nature of assessment and the division and components of contact and non-contact time.
