PCUTL Projects:
Effective supervision of interdisciplinary PhD projects across multiple schools

With the University promoting interdisciplinary research, more and more PhD students are studying interdisciplinary projects. This project explores the experiences of interdisciplinary PhD students and their supervisors. Consistently issues of communication, time management, logistics and ownership were raised by supervisors (who can number up to four for any one student across several sites on the CU Campus). Issues of publication route challenges were also commonly raised. Irena recommends that the University develops clearer guidance to support both students and supervisors of interdisciplinary PhDs.
