Sir Martin Evans building

Students working in a groupCardiff University Learning and Teaching Conference

It is our strategic aim to embed skills development within and across the curriculum so that students at all levels appreciate the skills needed for employability.  There are a broad range of learning literacies and skills that we are seeking to develop in our students – academic, professional, digital and information literacies; entrepreneurial and social enterprise skills; reflection and personal development planning; ensuring we are educating global citizens.  Good curriculum and assessment design, including appropriate use of technology within the curriculum, is needed to enable our students to not only develop a deep understanding of the subject, but also to develop skills that will prepare them for their future employment.

This one-day conference will provide the opportunity for staff from across the University to meet and share their experiences in this area. Do you have good practice that you would like to share?  We will have slots for shorter examples (10-15 minutes) and in depth case studies (up to 30 minutes). If you are interested in presenting, please send a statement of no more than 250 words outlining your activity or development to education@cardiff.ac.uk by Friday 14 June 2013.

We are looking for good practice and examples in the following areas:

  • Embedding skills in the curriculum
  • Linking theory to the real world
  • Using technology to develop students’ skills
  • Designing assessments to support skills development

If you would like to register as a delegate for the conference please complete the booking form below.  Registration will close on Wednesday 26 June 2013.

This conference is linked to the all-Wales ‘Graduates for our Future’ theme directed by the Higher Education Academy.
