g. Consultation with Students at Academic Council
December 5, 2011
During Academic Council, the meeting in the Students’ Union chaired by the Academic and University Affairs Officer and attended by one Undergraduate and one Postgraduate rep from every School, a session was held on the Student Charter.
The first half of the session captured students’ expectations about their University experience and whether or not these had been met. The second half presented students with a preliminary draft of the charter to allow them to feedback their initial thoughts.
The consultation brought up a variety of positive and negative aspects about the University including the variance between Schools. Students really liked the idea of a charter, but only if it was relevant to them: their biggest fear being that the charter would offer them something that they could not access.
Students from the following Schools attended: BIOSI, CHEMY, COMSC, CLAWS, EARTH, ENGIN, EUROS, LEARN, MATHS, MEDIC, OPTOM, PHRMY, PSYCH, SOCSI, SOHCS, JOMEC, WELSH
