Adding and editing pages in a Campus Pack Wiki
A wiki is website that is easy to build from a series of linked pages are created on the web, often collaboratively by a group of people. Different groups (instructors, students, groups of students) may be given the ability to edit or leave comments on each page, thus creating a dialogue. Images and links to other websites can be included. See the short Common Craft video clip .
Editing an existing page
Go to the Learning Central module that contains the wiki you are contributing too. Navigate to the content area from which there is a link to the journal. It will look something like this:
Click on View below the name of the wiki (if you see a message that ‘Course synchronisation is in progress’, please wait a few moments). You will see the home page of the wiki.
Click Edit in the upper right-hand corner to begin editing the page. You can add text, links, images, upload a file and more using the toolbar at the top.
When you have finished editing the page, click the Save & Exit button . You will now see the changes you have made to the page.
Editing tips and tricks
- To paste text from a Word document, use the Paste from Word button.
- To add a link, type some text, highlight it, and then click the link button. Type or paste the URL into the appropriate box, and then click the Insert button.
Adding a new page
To create a new page click on the Add New Page button. You can add text, links, images, upload a file and more using the toolbar at the top. When you have finished editing the page, click the Save & Exit button . You will now see the changes you have made to the page.
Alternatively you can create a new page linked from an existing page:
First go to an existing page.Add a link by typing some text, highlighting it and then clicking the link button. Choose Link to a new page and type in the name for the new page. Click the Insert button. This will return you to the page you were editing.
Click the Save & Exit button. You will see the page you were just editing, including the link to the new page. Click on the link to the new page. Click the Edit button and edit the new page.
You can also add key words to each page by clicking Edit next to Tags in the upper left-hand corner.
